the world of everett, the archives

Everett has been saying, "You can DO it!" in his most peppy voice a lot lately. I can, for instance, put together his train tracks, or sit on the floor with him and play, or go on a run around and around and around the block with him.

But this week we really started to hear the "I can DO it!" a lot more. Everett can...take off his jacket and his shirt, put his shirt back on inside out, and take it off again. Everett can...get cookies for himself from the box. Everett can...start a DVD on his own and (this was the best part! Daddy will be so proud) put the old DVD away.

Although it can be a bit frustrating, I LOVE "I can DO it!" It's such a nice thing for a mama who's had to DO so many things for her little guy. It's also a little sad, as now he doesn't need me anymore...what am I here for, poopy diapers and making peanut butter toast, nothing else?

Which is better? "I need HEELPP!" or "I can do it by myself!" Both are fraught with their own issues. I guess it's nice to have a little of both.
